Bethany Global ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you visit our website at bethanyglobal.com, use the Bethany Global mobile app for iPhone and Android (the "app"), or use our other services. In this policy, "our services" means the website and the app together.

Information We Collect

We collect personal information that you give us when you create an account, make a donation, sign up for events or updates, apply for a position, or contact us. Depending on what you do, this may include:

  • Account information: If you create an account on the website or in the app, we store your name, your email address and an account ID we assign to you. Sign-in, including your password or email sign-in codes, is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see or store your password.

  • Viewing activity: When you are signed in and watch videos, we record which videos you watched, how far you got and whether you finished, so you can pick up where you left off and see your course progress.

  • Push notification token: If you allow notifications in the app, your device gives us a push token (a random identifier used to deliver notifications) and we note whether the device is iPhone or Android. If you don't allow notifications, no token is stored.

  • Purchases in the app: If you buy a course in the app, the payment is handled by the Apple App Store (and, once available on Android, Google Play). We receive a transaction identifier and which course you bought so we can unlock it on your account and restore it later. We never receive your card or bank details.

  • Partner access: If you redeem a partner or donor invite link, we record that partner access on your account.

  • Bethany Global University interest: If you ask for information about Bethany Global University, we keep your email address and, if you give it, your name.

  • Forms and applications: When you contact us, sign up for updates, ask to be notified, or fill in another form on our website, we collect what you enter, such as your name, email address, phone number (only on forms that ask for it) and message. If you apply for a position, we also collect your answers to the application questions and any files you upload, such as a résumé.

  • Donations: Donations are made through our giving partner, GoFundMe Pro (formerly Classy), on their secure forms. They collect your name, contact details, mailing address and payment information to process your gift and issue receipts. Card and bank details go directly to GoFundMe Pro; we do not store them.

  • Events: Event registration may take place on a registration page run by another provider, which collects the information it needs under its own privacy policy.

  • Technical information: Like most websites and apps, our servers and hosting providers receive basic technical information such as your IP address, browser or device type and the pages or features you request. We use it to run, secure and troubleshoot our services and to block spam and abuse of our forms.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Process donations and provide tax receipts, and event registrations

  • Create and manage your account and sign you in

  • Show the videos, courses and partner content you have access to, remember your viewing progress, and unlock courses you have purchased

  • Send push notifications you have allowed, such as new content alerts

  • Follow up on Bethany Global University information requests

  • Review job applications and respond to them

  • Send you updates about our mission, and ministry reports that you've opted into

  • Respond to your inquiries and requests

  • Improve our website, app and services

  • Comply with legal obligations and protect against fraud, spam and abuse

Cookies and Similar Technologies

Our website does not use advertising cookies or third-party analytics tracking. We use a small number of cookies and similar browser storage that are needed for the site to work: sign-in cookies set by our authentication provider (Clerk) and a note in your browser that remembers if you dismissed a site announcement. When you give through our website, the GoFundMe Pro giving form runs its own scripts and may set its own cookies, as described in their privacy policy. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, but signing in and giving may not work without them.

Information Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to anyone. We share information only with service providers who help us run our services, only to the extent they need it to do that work, or when the law requires it. Our service providers are:

  • Clerk — account sign-in and authentication

  • Railway — hosting for our servers and database

  • Vercel — hosting for our website

  • Bunny.net — video delivery, image and file storage, including private storage for uploaded job application files

  • YouTube and Vimeo — some videos are played through their embedded players, which are governed by their own privacy policies

  • Expo — delivery of app push notifications (through Apple Push Notification service and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging) and app updates

  • Apple App Store and Google Play — in-app purchases, under their own privacy policies

  • GoFundMe Pro (Classy) — donation processing and receipts

  • Resend — sending email, such as notifying our staff when you submit a form

  • Cloudmersive — scanning files uploaded with job applications for viruses before we store them

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. All information sent between your device and our services is encrypted in transit (HTTPS), and uploaded application files are kept in private storage that only our staff can access. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time in the app: go to Account and tap Delete account. This permanently deletes your login and your account profile (name and email), your viewing progress, your course purchase records, your partner access, and your push notification tokens.

Deleting your account does not cancel or refund purchases made through the App Store or Google Play, because those are managed by the store. Refunds are requested from Apple or Google. Because your purchases are tied to your Apple ID, you may be able to restore them by signing in to a new account and tapping Restore Purchases.

If you can't use the app, or you want us to delete other information, such as a Bethany Global University information request or a form or job application you sent us, see our Delete your account page or email us at info@bethanyglobal.com. Donation records are held by GoFundMe Pro, and we may need to keep some donation and tax receipt records to meet legal obligations.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by contacting us. You may also opt out of marketing communications by following the unsubscribe instructions in any email we send, or by contacting us directly. You can turn off push notifications at any time in your device settings (on iPhone: Settings → Notifications → Bethany Global; on Android: Settings → Notifications → Bethany Global).

Children's Privacy

Our services are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
