A Discovery Trip That Changed Everything
Marcus signed up for a two-week discovery trip expecting to help. What he didn't expect was that the trip would completely reorient his life.
'I went thinking I'd serve and come back to normal life,' he recalls. 'Instead, I came back knowing that what I'd been calling normal wasn't enough.'
Two Weeks That Mattered
The trip took Marcus to communities in Southeast Asia where Bethany's local partners were actively making disciples. He saw firsthand how simple, reproducible methods were being used to share the gospel across language and cultural barriers.
It wasn't the dramatic moments that changed him — it was the quiet ones. Watching a local leader open her home. Sitting in a circle where new believers prayed for the first time. Seeing the church as it was meant to be: organic, multiplying, and deeply relational.
A New Trajectory
Within six months of returning home, Marcus had enrolled in Bethany's leadership training pathway. Today, he serves as a mobilizer helping others take their first step — whether that's a discovery trip, a training course, or simply a conversation about what God might be calling them to.
